Namaste, I’m Dr. Katharina Austermann from Germany. From the moment I began speaking, I was full of questions, always asking, “Why?” I grew up in a small village in the Eifel, surrounded by forests and open nature, where I spent much of my childhood outdoors and in close contact with my intuition.
In my late twenties, while working as a research assistant at the University of Bonn, I became aware that my intellectual pursuits were pulling me away from my inner wisdom. Looking for a way to reconnect, I began practicing yoga asana. Very quickly, I felt that I had found something that resonated deeply with my soul.
Following my natural curiosity, I chose to go further and complete yoga teacher training, learning from Indian teachers to better understand the roots of this beautiful practice. Looking back on my childhood, I realized that I had in many ways already been living yoga—through my closeness to nature and by listening to the guidance within. That insight inspired me to begin teaching yoga and to share this transformative path with others.
While in Bali, I met Sandeep. Our connection was immediate and grew into deep love. Together with his brother Ankur, we founded Anandam Yoga School. Our mission is to share the transformative practice of yoga and spread its wisdom not only in India, but around the world.
I am deeply fascinated by the science behind yoga and love weaving yoga philosophy together with modern scientific research. My intention is to bridge ancient wisdom and contemporary knowledge, helping people return to their inner knowing and live in alignment with their soul’s purpose.
