Designed for dedicated students and future teachers, this 200-hour yoga teacher training offers a deeper, more expansive understanding of yoga while building the confidence and skills needed to lead intelligent, dynamic, and inspiring classes. It is an immersive program for those ready to explore the practice, process, and science of yoga in depth.
This Registered Yoga School program (RYS 200) is structured to prepare trainees at an advanced level to teach a general adult population. Training hours are distributed across the following Yoga Alliance Educational Categories:
This section includes asanas, pranayamas, mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. The hours combine analytical study of how to teach and practice these methods with guided practice of the techniques themselves.
Topics cover communication skills, including group dynamics, time management, and setting priorities and boundaries; addressing individual needs and special populations in a group setting; principles of demonstration, observation, assisting, and correcting; teaching styles; qualities of a teacher; the student learning process; and the business side of teaching yoga, including marketing and legal considerations.
This category explores human physical anatomy and physiology, as well as energy anatomy and physiology such as chakras. It also focuses on applying this knowledge to yoga practice, including benefits, contraindications, and healthy movement patterns.
Topics include the study of yoga philosophies and traditional texts, yoga lifestyle principles such as ahimsa, dharma, and karma, and ethics for yoga teachers, including teacher-student relationships and community. It also highlights the value of teaching yoga as service and supporting others through seva.
This portion includes practice teaching as the lead instructor, receiving and giving feedback, observing others teach, and assisting students while another teacher is leading. The remaining contact and elective hours cover theming, heat management, and prenatal basics. Total hours: 200.
