The Total Yoga Nidra Teacher and Facilitator Training is intended for yoga teachers and practitioners who want to share Yoga Nidra with clarity and confidence, whether in group classes, one-to-one work, or therapeutic settings. It introduces Total Yoga Nidra as a broad, non-dogmatic approach that respects many different styles of practice and recognises that people may experience Yoga Nidra in distinct ways.
This training invites you to explore Yoga Nidra as a living, evolving practice. Rather than focusing on fixed or trademarked methods, you are encouraged to deepen your own intuitive experience while building a grounded understanding of different lineages, approaches, and levels of practice. Total Yoga Nidra is presented as an intelligent and adaptable method that can support deep rest, healing, and self-discovery.
Created by Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli, the course draws on more than forty years of combined experience in practice, teaching, and therapeutic application of Yoga Nidra. It is experiential and comparative in nature, supporting both personal growth and professional teaching development. The training is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists for APD.
This intensive programme is delivered in two parts. The first module takes place in person at De Pastorie in Diemen, Amsterdam. The second module is held live online via Zoom. The training fee also includes three video-recorded Total Yoga Nidra Open Circles to support integration and ongoing study.
Before starting the teacher training, completion of the Total Yoga Nidra Online Immersion Experience is required. This prerequisite can be completed online and must be finished before the course begins.
The in-person module includes five full training days with Uma at De Pastorie in Diemen. In addition, participants receive access to an online learning sanctuary, recordings of the Open Circles, downloadable Yoga Nidras for pre-course listening, and detailed written materials. Across sixty hours of guided study, practice, and support, the training encourages the development of a personal daily Yoga Nidra practice alongside teaching skills. There is also time throughout the course for questions, dialogue, peer practice, and direct feedback on your teaching. Further support includes follow-up online tutorials, guidance for an in-depth case study, and access to recordings of live Yoga Nidra sessions shared during the training.
During the course, you will learn how to design and deliver Total Yoga Nidra practices that respond to different settings and needs. The training provides a clear understanding of the structure and function of Total Yoga Nidra, together with relevant principles of yogic psychology and philosophy. You will also examine the historical development of Yoga Nidra across lineages and learn how to teach with sensitivity to emotional and inner experience, while working within appropriate safety guidelines. Graduates receive a certificate of completion, access to the Graduate Circle, and inclusion in the Teacher Directory.
Assessment is completed in two parts. In the online module, you will guide a short Yoga Nidra practice for your peers and tutor and receive feedback. You will also complete a case study involving the design and delivery of a series of Yoga Nidra sessions. The case study must be submitted within three months after the course ends.
