Description

A 2-day in-person training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli on 17–18 October 2026.

About the training

This Total Yoga Nidra Teacher and Facilitator Training is created for yoga teachers and practitioners who want to share Yoga Nidra with clarity and confidence, whether in group classes, one-to-one work, or therapeutic settings. It offers a comprehensive, non-dogmatic approach that respects the many ways people experience Yoga Nidra.

What makes this training distinctive is its exploration of Yoga Nidra as a living, evolving practice. You are encouraged to deepen your own intuitive relationship with the practice beyond fixed or trademarked forms, while also developing a clear understanding of different methods, lineages, and levels of experience. Total Yoga Nidra is presented as an intelligent, adaptable practice that supports deep rest, healing, and self-discovery.

Designed by Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli, the training draws on more than forty years of combined experience in practice, teaching, and therapeutic application. It is experiential and comparative in nature, supporting both personal growth and professional teaching skills. The training is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists for APD.

Training format

The course combines theory and practice to give you a strong foundation, or to deepen an existing one, in understanding what Yoga Nidra is in its broadest sense and how it works. The material is divided into fourteen approximately one-hour sections, each focused on a specific aspect of the practice:

  • 1. Welcome to Yoga Nidra

  • 2. The History and Development of Yoga Nidra

  • 3. Intentions, and how they Shape the Practice

  • 4. Comparative Structures

  • 5. Comparative Rotations of Consciousness

  • 6. The Science of Yoga Nidra

  • 7. The Philosophy of Yoga Nidra

  • 8. Liminality & Creativity

  • 9. Memory, Sleep & Dreams

  • 10. Trance: Hypnosis & Yoga Nidra

  • 11. Yoga Nidra as a Meditative Practice

  • 12. Sankalpa

  • 13. Yoga Nidra & Bhakti Yoga

  • 14. Growing Your Own Practice

Each section includes:

  • A written lecture summary

  • A lecture exploring the topic in greater depth

  • A Yoga Nidra practice that illustrates or investigates the material

  • Enquiries for reflection

  • Links to relevant articles and resources

  • Suggestions for further reading

The Teacher

Uma Dinsmore-Tuli

Uma Dinsmore-Tuli has been practicing yoga since early childhood and teaching since 1994. Her work is rooted in yoga therapy, with a special focus on women’s health and the restorative potential of Yoga Nidra. She is widely recognised for her pioneering contribution to the field and is the author of influential books including Yoni Shakti and Nidra Shakti.

Through her international teaching, trainings, and therapeutic work, Uma explores how yoga can support deep rest, resilience, and vitality through different phases of life. Her approach is shaped by decades of practice, research, and clinical experience, and is informed by yoga tantra while remaining relevant to contemporary contexts.

Her connection with this work began years ago as a student in Uma’s Yoga Nidra Teacher Training and grew into a long-standing collaboration grounded in shared values and care for the practice. Since 2018, Uma has been an integral part of Global Flow, often alongside her partner Nirlipta, and her presence continues to bring depth and generosity to the community.
