Lizzy Hoffmann is the Director of Urban Bliss Yoga, which she founded in North Carolina in 2006.
Her first yoga teacher was her mother, who introduced her to this ancient science in the late 1960s and 1970s. Her mother studied with gurus such as Muktananda, Satchitananda, and Roy Eugene Davis, and shared yoga with Lizzy at a very young age. That early exposure helped shape Lizzy’s outlook and grounded her in yoga values such as Ahimsa and conscious vegan eating, practices that have remained part of her life ever since.
As a young woman, Lizzy also developed a strong passion for dance. By the time she finished high school, she was already working with professional dance companies throughout the United States. In 1986, she earned a degree in Dance, Kinesiology, and Choreography. For her, the joy of movement reflects the miracle of life and remains a constant source of inspiration.
After many years in dance, Lizzy moved into the fitness world with the same energy and commitment. She became a presenter for major fitness companies and traveled internationally, sharing health and wellness with others. That journey eventually brought her back to yoga at Miami’s Yoga Shala in Southern Florida, where she met her teacher, Paul Toliuszis, and completed her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification. Since then, she has taught countless classes inspired by the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. In 2006, she founded Urban Bliss School of Yoga and now leads teacher trainings across the southeastern United States.
Lizzy studied with the late Georg Feuerstein for 3 years, completing more than 800 hours of study, and continues to draw inspiration from teachers and masters including Pattabhi Jois, David Swenson, Leslie Kaminoff, Paul Grilly, Berny Clarke, Donna Farhi, and others. She is certified at the 1,500-hour level and holds E-RYT 200 and E-RYT 500 status with Yoga Alliance. Her expertise spans Yoga History, Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Literature, Yoga Therapy, asana sequencing, Yin Yoga, Holistic Therapeutic Yoga, Yoga for Pregnancy, the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, and more.
