An in-person 4.5-day journey into Tibetan yoga and meditation practices designed to expand the mind and open the heart.
Spend 4 Β½ days immersed in Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga and meditations that invite greater sensitivity and awareness of the mind, body, and feelings. Through this retreat, you will be supported in experiencing your non-dual nature and in awakening a deeper capacity for healing, peace, love, and compassion.
Each day includes Tibetan Yoga sessions, chanting, loving-kindness and compassion meditations, daily outdoor activities, and time for integration within community. Together, these practices create space to embody your sincere wishes for peace, ease, joy, and love.
As part of the retreat, participants are invited to join an optional life release practice, returning earthworms to fertile soil in their natural habitat. This compassionate act reflects inner goodness and supports the blossoming of the enlightened heart.
A copy of Tarthang Tulku Rinpocheβs book Kum Nye β Tibetan Yoga is included in the ticket cost and will be given to each participant at the retreat.
This is an in-person only program and will not be recorded.
This program welcomes everyone, from complete beginners curious about meditation to experienced practitioners wishing to deepen awareness. No prior background in yoga or Buddhism is required.
Pronounced βkoom nay,β Kum Nye combines gentle massage, breathing, postures, and movement exercises that support healing in body and mind by releasing blockages and allowing energy to flow more freely. Created by Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche to help Westerners release stress, Kum Nye encourages deep relaxation and makes it easier to enter meditation with clear awareness and an open heart. It is rooted in Tibetan medicine and Buddhist body-mind disciplines.
Even a brief introduction to Kum Nye can ease stress and deepen sensitivity to body, breath, and mind. It offers direct experience of emotions, thoughts, sensations, and feelings without needing to label them. As stress softens, sensory awareness returns, mental chatter quiets, and body, breath, and mind come into greater harmony, supporting a more embodied, joyful, and awake way of living.
As Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche says: βThe deep relaxation produced releases a vibrant, intense flow of feeling that renders all experiences richer, healthier, and more beautiful.β

Do I need to be a practicing Buddhist to attend this retreat?
No. No experience is required. Beginners will find a safe environment to start their journey, while advanced practitioners can deepen and refine their practice.
How is this a beneficial program for an advanced Buddhist practitioner?
A practice that unites body, breath, and mind is essential. Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga offers an ideal preparation for higher yogic practices, helping release blocked energy so awareness can become open, free, and more fully experienced. These practices naturally relax us into non-duality.
If I am attending in person, what do I bring?
Wear comfortable clothing for meditation and movement, and bring warm layers for outdoor walking and practice, weather permitting. Please also bring a notebook, pen, and water bottle.
Is previous meditation experience required to take this course?
No, everyone is welcome, from beginners to advanced meditators.
If I miss a session, will I have access to the recording?
This retreat will not be recorded. Come share presence.
What do I do after the retreat?
Allow the practices to integrate naturally into your daily life without guilt, remembering that they are not separate from it. Focus less on βdoingβ and more on the presence they bring.
