“Nature does not hurry, and yet everything is completed.” — Lao Tzu
There are moments when time seems to open wide: in deep meditation, on a mountain trail, in the pure play of being with an infant, in love, or in the quiet of prayer. Yet as we become more conditioned, we often slip into an artificial, even adversarial, relationship with time.
“Deep time” points to the spacious, non-dual awareness that a meditative life can reveal. Entering it requires moving beyond conditioned beliefs and stepping into a more embodied, expansive way of being.
In an era of rapid change, this workshop invites us to reflect on the calm, unhurried wisdom that helps us appreciate this precious world and renew our commitment to caring for it. Deep time grounds us in awe of geological time beyond human calendars, while opening us more fully to the rhythms of nature, the seasons, the biosphere, and our subtle body.
Slowing down can itself become a revolutionary act, allowing us to attune to our bodies, our hearts, the earth, and the more-than-human world. When we look beyond the dominant paradigm’s emphasis on speed, busyness, and productivity, we can remember a more authentic relationship with time—one rooted in interdependence, emergence, and wholeness.
By balancing stillness and action, attunement and productivity, and yin and yang, we can create greater harmony within ourselves and in our relationships with the planet and one another. Anchored in the Zen teaching of Uji, or “being time,” this workshop includes meditation, compassionate inquiry, conscious movement/dance, dharma talks, embodied ritual, and connection with the natural world. All are welcome.
