Over the course of this 5-night retreat, participants will explore the mindfulness approach taught by Sayadaw U Tejaniya. Rooted in the Satipatthana Sutta, or Four Foundations of Mindfulness, this practice places particular emphasis on awareness of the qualities of mind. It invites a relaxed relationship with both body and mind while maintaining close attention to present-moment experience and to the mind that is aware. The practice develops through continuous mindfulness in every activity.
This silent retreat offers space for retreatants to set their own pace for sitting and walking practice. Much of the schedule is designed as self-directed practice, supported by meditation instructions, Dharma talks, Q&A sessions, and small-group meetings with a teacher.
Experience Prerequisite: One silent, residential Buddhist insight/vipassana retreat of any length.
Partial attendance is not available for this retreat. Please also consider joining only if your current life situation allows you to take part in an important modern renunciation practice: remaining offline and off phone/text for the full duration of the retreat, with exceptions possible in urgent family circumstances.
