Description

Welcome to this exclusive Yin Yoga Teacher Training I, an intensive 50-hour program designed to unfold over six days and support deep, meaningful transformation.

The training is built around four essential pillars that together create a strong and comprehensive foundation for your teaching journey:

  • Segment 1: Yin Yoga Asanas – Learn 20 classic Yin Yoga postures through both theory and embodied practice. The training deepens your understanding of each shape’s key points of attention and its profound physiological effects.
  • Segment 2: Anatomy Is the Key – A solid understanding of individual skeletal structure is essential. You will explore the function and structure of muscles, connective tissue, fascia, and ligaments in detail to develop a clear understanding of how the body works.
  • Segment 3: The 7-Point Analysis Principle for Assists – Rather than teaching fixed assisting techniques, this training offers a flexible analysis principle. You can apply this tool to any familiar yoga posture and to each individual person, allowing you to support students with precision and safety.
  • Segment 4: Applying the Analysis Principle – 20 Tests – In this practice-focused block, special test series are used to assess skeletal structure, compression, and tension patterns in your students. In a safe environment, you will learn how to “read” the body, recognize your own limits, and identify the limitations of others. These insights strengthen your confidence and refine your ability to assess each student’s individual needs with care.

The foundation for your new teaching career is now in place.

About Markus Henning Giess

Since 1990, Markus has accumulated more than 10,000 hours of training experience in dance, yoga, massage, bodywork, anatomy, meditation, and energy work. With over 30 years of experience, he is considered one of the most experienced specialists and one of the most recognized Yin Yoga and anatomy teachers in the German-speaking world.

His love for yoga was strongly inspired by the internationally known Power Yoga icon Bryan Kest. Together, they completed a 350-hour teacher training in Mexico. Through Bryan, Markus discovered Yin Yoga and the distinctive teaching of Paul and Suzee Grilley. Today, he is a devoted Yin practitioner and has assisted Paul and Suzee since early 2015.

The Grilleys’ extensive training covers outstanding subjects such as Yin Yoga, yoga anatomy, individual skeletal structure, chakra meditation, and yoga philosophy, including the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita.

Markus also completed a Yin/Yang Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training with Sarah Powers, the founder of Insight Yoga. Her approach, which brings together yoga insights with Buddhism, Taoism, and transpersonal psychology, is deeply inspiring and beautifully complements the Grilleys’ teachings.

He further trained with Karla Brodie and Neal Ghoshal, distinguished teachers of Restorative Yoga, who introduced him to their unique approach, “The Art of Rest,” in their teacher trainings.

Markus has practiced Vipassana meditation for 30 years and has been teaching it for more than 15 years. As a Reiki master and energy work teacher, he also completed an intensive professional Thai massage training at Wat Po in Bangkok, one of the world’s most respected schools. He had the honor of training with true masters of the ancient healing touch known as Nuad and the Thai Yoga Massage tradition of RueSi DatTon.

Before dedicating himself fully to this path, Markus spent 16 years on stage. As a professional dancer and musical performer in productions such as Cats, Elisabeth, and Buddy Holly, as well as a freelance choreographer and presenter, he worked in Germany, England, Scotland, and Switzerland.

His comedic talent and ability to weave together his deep knowledge as a performer, yogi, and body therapist make his trainings and workshops stimulating, insightful, and memorable experiences.

Today, Markus offers his Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Trainings and workshops in German across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Together with his New Zealand partner Karin Sang, he also leads English-language trainings in Asia, New Zealand, and Australia.
