Set on one of Goa’s most beautiful beaches, this internationally recognized Yoga Alliance registered school has welcomed more than 10,000 yoga teachers through its celebrated 200-hour training. Founded in 2008, Sampoorna Yoga was created with a clear intention: to teach yoga in its fullest expression, honoring all eight limbs rather than focusing on asana alone.
This intensive 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training is designed to build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to practice and teach from the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series and Vinyasa Flow. Rooted in the traditional system established by Sage Patanjali more than 3,000 years ago, the curriculum combines classical foundations with a modern, open-minded approach.
The training includes asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, alignment, adjustment, and extensive teaching practice. In addition to the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, you will explore a wide range of Vinyasa flows and learn how to create your own sequences. While the teaching is traditional, the approach encourages creativity, intuition, and personal spiritual experience, without religious or dogmatic frameworks.
This course is ideal if you want to become a qualified yoga teacher, deepen your understanding of yogic philosophy and lifestyle, strengthen your asana, pranayama, and meditation practice, and learn in a compassionate yet challenging environment near the beach in Goa. It is also suited to those seeking a structured, anatomically precise, and intuitive path to teaching.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a 200-hour yoga teacher training certification that allows them to register as RYT-200 with Yoga Alliance, if they choose to do so. Registration is optional. The certification is recognized internationally and can be used to teach legally in any country.
You will study the history and structure of Ashtanga Vinyasa, including vinyasa, ujjayi pranayama, bandhas, and drishti, along with a modified Primary Series and daily alignment and modification workshops. Hands-on adjustments, prop use, and guided teaching practice begin from the first day, supervised by senior teachers.
Vinyasa Flow sessions are supported by sequencing principles and class creation practice, along with two Yin classes and two to three Partner Yoga classes. Pranayama covers several techniques, including Nadi Shodhana, kapalbhati, bhastrika, ujjayi, bhramari, and surya bheda. Meditation includes chakra, kundalini, om, nada, mantra, antara mauna, chidakash dharana, vipassana, and insight meditation.
Philosophy explores the history and meaning of yoga, the four paths, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the eight limbs, the yogic lifestyle, obstacles on the path, the three gunas, and ethics for practitioners and teachers.
The practical anatomy component is a major part of the training and focuses on the skeletal system, muscular system, connective tissue, nervous system, and major joint movements. It also examines functional anatomy, movement patterns, and regional study of the feet, knees, hips, spine, and shoulders. An online anatomy module is included and strongly recommended before arrival.
Teaching practice begins early in the course so you can build confidence step by step. You will learn sequencing, voice, class management, presence, demonstration, safety, hands-on adjustments, and the qualities of an effective yoga teacher. By the end of the training, you will be prepared to teach Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, and mixed-level open classes confidently.
