6–8 & 13–15 November 2026 · In Person at Ashram Ibiza
Asana is much more than creating a physical shape.
This 20-hour intensive is an opportunity to slow down and understand what is actually happening within your practice: how you create stability, where unnecessary tension appears, how the breath responds, when a posture needs to be modified, and how to practise according to your individual body rather than simply copying a shape.
We begin with the foundation of Sthira Sukham Asanam — stability and ease — and use this principle throughout the course to explore alignment, breath, awareness, modifications and safe practice.
The intention is to learn how to understand the postures you already practise.
What We Will Explore
Through theory, practical Asana Clinic sessions, observation and guided practice, we will explore:
- What asana is beyond physical exercise
- Sthira Sukham Asanam as the foundation of practice
- Alignment, stability and muscular action
- Individual differences within asana
- Intelligent modifications and use of props
- Safe and sustainable practice
- The relationship between breath, effort and tension
- Asana as a practice of attention and concentration
- Understanding different families of postures
- Developing greater awareness and independence in your own practice
Selected asanas will be studied in depth throughout the course, giving us time to observe, explore, modify and understand each posture rather than simply moving quickly from one pose to another.
Who Is It For?
This course is open to yoga practitioners and yoga teachers.
You do not need to be a teacher or have any intention of becoming one.
It is for anyone who wants to move beyond simply following instructions and develop a deeper understanding of their own practice.
