Step into an 11-day certified short-term yoga course in Kerala, India, designed especially for beginners who want a strong and meaningful start to their practice.
Set in the peaceful, nature-rich surroundings of Varkala, this training brings together Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and foundational yoga under the guidance of expert teachers. It is ideal for anyone who feels their practice has become repetitive, or who is ready to move beyond following apps and videos without understanding the deeper purpose behind the work.
This 100-hour course offers a practical and accessible way to begin. Instead of committing to a full month, you can spend two focused weeks on the stunning cliffs of Varkala, learning core principles, refining technique, and building confidence at a steady pace. It is the first half of the full 200-hour program, and the second 100 hours can be completed later, ideally within the next 2 years, whenever you are ready to continue.
The program is designed to clear away confusion and give you a grounded foundation in yoga. Whether your goal is to deepen your personal practice or explore whether teaching is the right path for you, you will be supported in a warm and inspiring environment shaped by the tropical beauty of Kerala.
What you will explore during the training:
Build a strong base in yoga movement with attention to safe alignment and coordinated breathing. These practices support physical wellbeing while helping you create more balance in the mind.
Discover how breath can influence energy, focus, and relaxation. These techniques are useful for lifting your energy when you feel tired and calming the system when life feels overwhelming.
Learn guided methods for quieting the mind and creating a steadier sense of inner calm that stays with you beyond the mat.
Gain a clear understanding of how yoga affects muscles, joints, and internal systems, helping you practice more safely and with greater awareness of your body’s needs.
Experience the power of Sanskrit sound to support focus, uplift your mood, and deepen your awareness through vibration and repetition.
Explore the deeper meaning of yoga through ancient wisdom and practical mental discipline that can help you stay centered in daily life.
A typical day is structured to feel natural and balanced, not rushed or overwhelming. Early mornings begin in the quiet coolness of the day with asana practice, followed by pranayama sessions. The schedule allows space for reflection and integration, so the learning can settle in fully and support your growth as a future guide or committed practitioner.
The teaching team brings yoga to life as a way of living, not just a profession. Highly certified and rooted in authentic Indian yoga traditions, the teachers offer clear instruction, personal support, and practical guidance that helps you understand both the physical and philosophical aspects of the practice.
Course requirements:
Comfortable, clean accommodation is provided to support rest and focus throughout the training. Meals follow a traditional satvic approach, with fresh, nourishing food that is easy to digest and designed to support steady energy, clearer concentration, and a lighter feeling during asana, pranayama, and meditation.
Since 2010, Rishikul Yogshala has been known for offering genuine yoga education that bridges ancient wisdom with modern life. As a Registered Yoga School, the center in Varkala combines high-level teaching with the slow, peaceful rhythm of the Kerala coast, creating an ideal setting for meaningful transformation.
After completing the first 100 hours, you will receive a certificate of participation. Once you return and finish the remaining 100 hours, you will earn your official 200-hour teaching credential, recognized worldwide by Yoga Alliance USA.
