

Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Master of Taiji Quan and Qigong, and Acupuncturist
Peter Caughey, founder of Forest Rock Qigong, is a master teacher of Qigong, Taiji, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). With more than 30 years of experience, he is also a doctor of TCM, Taiji Quan and Qigong master, acupuncturist, Chinese medical herbalist, and published author.
Peter is the last remaining teacher of the 真璣道太極拳自我防衛指導所 Zan Gei Dou Taai Gik Kyun Zi Ngo Fong Wai Zi Dou So (Cantonese), or Zhēn Ji Dào Tài Jí Quán Zì Wǒ Fáng Wèi Zhǐ Dǎo Suǒ (Mandarin), Monastery School. Known as the “True Pearl Way Supreme Ultimate Fist Self-Defence Instruction School,” this private lineage comes from a southern Chinese monastery tradition. It is an exclusive transmission, preserved with care and not widely shared, with its purity protected rather than broadly disseminated. Unlike the major historical Taiji styles or famous Daoist monasteries, this teaching has been passed down within a family and monastery-based line, and today Peter Caughey, based in Bali, Indonesia, is its last known holder and teacher.
His teachings are rooted in this lineage and explore The Seven Aspects, The 10 Principles, and The Three Applications. These teachings emphasize the regulation of Qi, the body as an intelligent and holistic system, and internal harmony through yin-yang and taiji principles. The transmission is experiential and goes beyond words, unfolding through practice and embodiment. At its heart, it supports balance, harmony, vitality, health, and spiritual fulfillment.

Before becoming a doctor of TCM and an acupuncturist, Peter spent 16 years in the New Zealand Army, including seven years with the Special Forces. That experience shaped the discipline, precision, resilience, and deep focus that now inform both his teaching and healing work.
Through in-person and online courses, teacher training certification programs, and his YouTube channel, Peter has supported thousands of people in healing from pain, disease, stress, and limiting mindsets. He is especially known for helping students release the beliefs and stories that hold them back, so they can move toward greater purpose, better health, and a deeper sense of freedom, contentment, relaxation, and peace.
