La Carolina Lodge

La Carolina Lodge is a rustic rainforest retreat in Bijagua de Upala, Costa Rica, set in the San Miguel area of Alajuela province. Surrounded by jungle, river views, and abundant wildlife, it offers a peaceful place to slow down and enjoy the natural setting.

The lodge combines simple cabin-style comfort with a range of experiences that reflect the surrounding landscape. Guests can enjoy a wood-fired hot tub, horseback riding, hiking, yoga, massage, and a fitness area, or simply spend time on a balcony or by the river. The communal open kitchen, with its wood-fired stove, creates a relaxed gathering space throughout the day.

Meals are served daily and include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with many ingredients coming from the lodge’s own garden or farm. Visitors often appreciate the calm atmosphere, the privacy of the cabins, and the chance to see local wildlife such as birds, monkeys, and sloths. La Carolina Lodge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and offers a nature-focused stay for couples, families, and travelers looking for a quieter pace.
