Gather with us on December 19th at Nectar Retreat Centre to honor the Winter Solstice, a time when the sun seems to pause in its path. In the geodesic dome, participants will be invited to reflect on the journey from the Summer Solstice to winter’s arrival. The experience begins with gentle functional movement and an energizing pranayama practice, then softens into the deep rest of a crystal bowl sound bath, and closes with written intentions and a shared bonfire. Held for warmth and light, the fire creates a beautiful circle of community as we begin our return toward the light on the shortest day of the year.
Like a bath in water, a sound bath surrounds you in sound. Usually led with metal or crystal singing bowls, these instruments produce rich, resonant tones when played by a practitioner. The result is an immersive experience that fills the room and washes over the body through sound waves. These vibrations are known to support theta, alpha, and gamma brain waves, which are associated with relaxation, uplifted mood, and a sense of well-being for the mind, body, and spirit.
