Set above Perast in the Bay of Kotor, Vranovo Hill offers one of the most striking panoramas of the Montenegrin coast, with sweeping views over the bay. At its summit stands Fortress St. Andrew, an Austro-Hungarian stronghold built between 1882 and 1886. In historical Austro-Hungarian records, it appears under the name Fort Vranovo Hill. The fortress was designed to secure the route from Čevak toward Donji Orahovac, Perast, and Risan, while also monitoring the area of Gornji Orahovac, the village of Stepen, and Donji Orahovac. From Perast, a 2-meter-wide serpentine road leads to the fort.
