Description

Three-Month Intensive Karma Yoga Program for Spiritual Awakening

Awakening Through Action

This is our most advanced educational offering, created for those ready to meet themselves honestly and do the work of transformation in community. Moving beyond theory, the program supports you in seeing, acknowledging, and shifting the deeper patterns that shape your life.

Drawing on ancient Buddhist practice, integral theory, science, and psychology, this three-month immersion places you in a conscious awakening community designed to help you reconnect with meaning, purpose, and a clearer sense of direction.

Along the way, many participants discover a deeper feeling of connection, humanity, and hope — not only for themselves, but for the future of our planet.

Karma Yoga: Three-Month Intensive

The core focus of this program is the ancient path of Karma Yoga. Each learning module is informed by leading research in Integral Spirituality, psychology, teamwork, environmental restoration, wholesome technology use, and shadow integration.

What is Karma Yoga? Karma Yoga is often described as meditation in action, or awakening through service. Combined with contemporary psychology and practical tools, it becomes a powerful and comprehensive path of integrated spiritual growth.

The Program Includes:

  • Daily group meditation;
  • Daily learning modules and curriculum;
  • Daily embodied Karma Yoga, such as gardening, ecological restoration, construction, cooking, and chopping wood. No previous experience required;
  • Applied Karma Yoga, such as video editing, writing, research, and wholesome social media. No previous experience required;
  • Classes, retreats, and in-the-moment teachings from our Founding Teachers, Qapel and Sensei;
  • Personal guidance and check-ins with our Associate Teachers;
  • A 3-night private meditation retreat in one of our cabins.

Living on 300 acres in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, you will learn how to:

  • Build a meaningful personal vision for this lifetime and beyond;
  • Develop a strong and transformative meditation practice;
  • Feel at home in your body and more connected with nature;
  • Create authentic connection with others;
  • Work through difficult patterns and blocks;
  • Co-create practical solutions for healing our planet spiritually, environmentally, socially, and financially.

Participants are asked to bring a laptop computer for wholesome and practical use during the program.

For details on food and accommodation, please see the FAQ section.

Please note: Karma Yoga is not Hatha Yoga, and we do not teach Hatha Yoga. We do, however, fully recognize its value.

Founding Teachers Qapel Doug Duncan and Catherine Pawasarat Sensei

Clear Sky would not exist without our Founding Teachers, Qapel and Sensei, who lead programs through their virtual monastery, Planet Dharma. Think of Clear Sky as their physical monastery and Planet Dharma as their global online monastery. When they are at Clear Sky, they engage with the community in a lively and inspiring way, modeling compassion, wisdom, and non-clinging awareness.

Our roots are in the Karma Kagyu school of Vajrayana Buddhism, and we also embrace a range of approaches and spiritual practices, including mindful breathing, Buddhist traditions such as Theravadin and Zen, Western Mysteries teachings like Kabbalah, Tarot, and Star Group, and modern Integral Spirituality. Joining this program and working with our Founding Teachers is a rare opportunity to learn from two experienced masters of awakening.

You are not expected to accept our Founding Teachers as your teachers. However, those who benefit most are usually those who recognize the value they offer and engage with openness, curiosity, and sincere questioning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is the Three Month Intensive Karma Yoga Program?
A residential 90-day immersion at Clear Sky Meditation Centre in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, Canada. It combines Karma Yoga, Buddhist practice, integral psychology, and community living. Days include group meditation, hands-on service work such as gardening, cooking, and construction, structured learning modules, and direct teacher guidance. No prior meditation or yoga experience is required.

How is this different from a yoga retreat or yoga teacher training in BC?
Most yoga retreats in BC last from a few days to two weeks and focus on physical postures or certification. This is neither. Karma Yoga has nothing to do with Hatha Yoga — it is the yoga of conscious action and selfless service. There is no certification at the end. Instead, you receive a rare three-month container for real psychological and spiritual transformation, supported by experienced teachers in one of BC’s most stunning retreat settings.

Is this a silent retreat?
No. The Three Month Intensive is a community immersion, where you live, eat, work, and practice alongside fellow participants every day. Relational dynamics are intentionally part of the transformation process. If you are seeking a silent retreat in BC, Clear Sky offers private silent cabin retreats as a separate experience.

Where is Clear Sky located and how do I get there?
Clear Sky is located on 300 acres near Bull River in southeastern BC, 40–60 minutes from Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC). It is a four-hour drive from Calgary and one hour from the US border, with access from Spokane, Sandpoint, and Whitefish. Airport pickup is available; please notify us when registering.

How much does the Three-Month Intensive cost and what's included?
Tuition is CAD $2,775 + tax for the full three months and includes accommodation, all organic meals, the complete Karma Yoga curriculum, daily group meditations, personal guidance from associate teachers, and a 3-night private cabin retreat. A non-refundable deposit of CAD $925 + tax is required at registration, with the remaining CAD $1,850 + tax due two weeks before arrival. Please budget an additional $75–100/week for personal expenses and dāna offerings to the Founding Teachers. We also ask that you arrive with at least CAD $2,000 in savings for your transition after the program — this is a prerequisite, not a suggestion.

What is the deposit and refund policy?
A non-refundable CAD $925 + tax deposit is due at registration. The remaining $1,850 + tax is due two weeks before arrival. After three weeks in the program, both parties complete a mutual review. If either side decides not to continue, $925 is refunded. After that review point, no further refunds are available.

What is dāna and how much should I budget for it?
Dāna, a Sanskrit term for generosity, is the way our Founding Teachers offer personal guidance sessions and special teachings. It is not a fixed fee, but a mutual exchange based on the value received and your personal capacity. It is a genuine spiritual practice, not a tip jar, and should be included within your $75–100 weekly personal budget.

What does a typical day look like?
Early morning group meditation, followed by hands-on Karma Yoga work such as gardening, cooking, or construction, then afternoon learning modules, applied Karma Yoga such as writing, research, or digital work, and evening community time or classes. One integration day off per week. Personal time is available most evenings after 8:30 pm. The schedule is intentionally demanding — this is a deep immersion, not a retreat holiday.

How far in advance should I apply, and who is this for?
Apply three to six months before your preferred intake for the best chance of acceptance, as those with the most flexibility receive priority placement. The 2026 intakes are March 2–June 2, June 29–August 29, and September 8–December 8. The program is suitable for anyone ready for serious inner work, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners, regardless of background or belief system. What matters most is a genuine willingness to show up and engage honestly.

Can I stay for less than three months, or extend my stay?
Three months is the minimum. The program is designed as a 90-day immersion and cannot be shortened. Many participants extend for a second three-month term, and longer arrangements may be possible for the right fit with the community and teachers.

How much free time will I have during the program?
Very little — and that is intentional. The Three-Month Intensive is a full immersion, so participants are encouraged to step back from regular activities, relationships, and habits for the duration. You will have evenings after 8:30 pm and one integration day per week for personal needs and reflection. Less really is more here, and participants often find that this focused container accelerates spiritual growth and helps them return to daily life with greater clarity, presence, and intention.
