Description
This scenic paddle begins in a peaceful stillwater creek, moving through a local area known as “The Forks.” Along the way, birdlife is plentiful, with excellent chances to see eagles, osprey, herons, kingfishers, and other species. You may even catch sight of a beaver or muskrat.
The route then continues into a remarkable ocean lagoon, where sweeping views of PEI’s striking parabolic dunes create a memorable backdrop. The evening light is ideal for birdwatching before sunset, and the lagoon’s quiet waters offer a calm, beautiful setting throughout the journey.
This 1.5-hour tour explores one of the hidden gems of PEI’s Natural Capital.
What to Expect:
Guests can look forward to an enjoyable and relaxed experience on St. Peter’s Lake, an ocean lagoon with sheltered, calm waters that are ideal for paddling. This tour is well suited to both first-time paddlers and those with prior Stand Up Paddleboarding experience.
The group will meet at Nature Space Resort & Retreat Centre, where check-in takes place at the reception yurt near the parking lot. Washroom facilities are available on site, and your guide will provide all necessary safety gear and paddle equipment.
Once everyone is ready, your guide will lead a safety briefing and share helpful tips to make your time on the water comfortable and fun.
Your guide will assist the group onto the water, and you can expect to be out for around 1.5–2 hours. During the paddle, you’ll enjoy the stillness of the lagoon and the surrounding wildlife. In addition to the many birds, there are stretches where you may be able to look down and see trout and other fish swimming below.
You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the ecology and history of the area, which once served as the capital region of PEI and is now known as the Island’s Natural Capital.
