10-Day Silent Retreat
For many Ashtanga practitioners, the most challenging part of the practice can be the stillness that follows. Yet when finishing postures, pranayama, and meditation are given time and attention, they can deepen and refresh the entire daily asana practice. In this silent retreat, the focus is on a balanced blend of asana, meditation, and breathwork. Each day includes sitting practice, Mysore-style practice, chanting, in-depth exploration of postures in guided sessions, and study of the philosophical foundations of compassion and the relationship between mind and body.
Most of the retreat is held in meditative silence, creating space for the practices to settle and take root. There is no better setting for exploring silence than the supportive environment of ocean and nature that is part of the Samahita experience. This retreat is suitable for both beginning and experienced meditation practitioners.
This retreat offers a rare chance to slow down, reflect, and enter practice more deeply. Surrounded by the richness of tropical nature, the introduction of silence can open the door to something quietly transformative. New spaces, insights, and a stronger sense of groundedness often arise naturally. These shifts are always present beneath the surface, but in silence they become easier to notice.
On day two, silence is gently introduced, and on the last full day, it is gradually lifted. Participants are encouraged to remain silent, stay away from screens, and make the most of this uncommon opportunity for reflection and renewal in nature. Mary and Richard will be available should any difficulties, doubts, or questions arise within the practice.
The program begins at 5pm on the first day with a group welcome, and departure is at 12pm on the final day. The schedule on day one will be slightly adjusted to allow time to settle into the retreat environment and ease into silence. The schedule may change at the discretion of the teacher.
