Join Simon Borg-Olivier — physiotherapist, co-founder of Yoga Synergy, and one of the world’s most experienced yoga educators — for a 7-night, 50-hour YACEP-accredited intensive at Lanka Yoga in Sri Lanka.
Created for yoga teachers who have completed a 200-hour (or higher) Yoga Alliance certified training, this program is designed to take your understanding further. You’ll spend around 8 hours each day with Simon, exploring the Yoga Synergy method, 5-Dimensional Synergy Flow, applied anatomy and physiology, breathwork, and spinal movement, while enjoying all-inclusive lakefront accommodation and vegan meals at a purpose-built venue on Koggala Lake.
Simon’s teaching combines clear verbal guidance, hands-on practice, and visually guided meditative movement, so every idea is felt in the body rather than understood only in theory.
These restorative sessions focus on breathwork, exercise-based physiotherapy, and yoga flows built around spinal movement. They are designed to support physical healing, increase energy, and improve mobility, balance, and blood circulation while encouraging a deeper sense of inner and outer flow.
Presented in a lively, conversational, and informative style, these lecture sessions explore the principles behind your evolving yoga practice, along with essential anatomy and physiology. In these workshops, you’ll also learn how to apply what you study in real teaching situations.
In the afternoon, Simon brings together Yoga Synergy and physiotherapy to help you build strength, flexibility, and overall fitness. These transformative sessions also show you how to work at a higher level of intensity while maintaining a calm mind, similar to the focused state seen in elite athletes and flow-based training.
Purpose-built, lake-facing, and created for both learning and restoration.
Set on the edge of Koggala Lake, this sustainably run yoga school is surrounded by jungle, birdsong, and open skies. Every detail, from the polished concrete floors to the airy shala, has been thoughtfully designed.
This is an immersive learning experience, so you’ll spend plenty of time in the yoga shala — but there is also space to rest and enjoy the surroundings.

Yoga Synergy is a method for practising and teaching yoga developed over 40 years by physiotherapists Simon Borg-Olivier and Bianca Machliss. It brings together traditional yoga, modern anatomy, physiology, and movement science, with influences from qigong, martial arts, and therapeutic exercise. The result is a practice that builds strength without strain and flexibility without force.
5-Dimensional Synergy Flow, also known as 5D Flow, is Simon’s system for intelligent, meditative movement. It explores the shared origin of yoga, qigong, tai chi, martial arts, and dance through five dimensions of core and spinal movement. You’ll experience 5-Dimensional Flow throughout the intensive in both the morning and afternoon practice sessions.
Simon is a physiotherapist, certified yoga therapist, and co-founder of Yoga Synergy, one of Australia’s oldest yoga schools. He trained directly with B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, and T.K.V. Desikachar, and has more than 50 years of practice and over 40 years of teaching globally. He also co-authored Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga, a prescribed text at RMIT University.
This is an intensive continuing education course — more structured than a retreat, but shorter than a full teacher training. You’ll spend about 8 hours a day with Simon in practice, lectures, and workshops. Because it is YACEP-accredited by Yoga Alliance, the 50 hours count toward your continuing education requirements. At the same time, the all-inclusive setting at Lanka Yoga — with lakefront accommodation, vegan meals, and time for the beach — gives it the atmosphere of a retreat as well.
No. A completed 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training in any style is required, but prior Yoga Synergy or 5-Dimensional Flow experience is not. Simon teaches from first principles, so the intensive is suitable whether you are new to the method or already familiar with it.
There is plenty of yoga, but the schedule also leaves room to breathe. Mornings begin with a three-hour practice session focused on breathwork, spinal movement, and Yoga Synergy flows. After breakfast, Simon leads a two-hour lecture on anatomy, physiology, and teaching methodology. Afternoons are split between free time to relax, explore, or visit the beach — Habaraduwa beach is five minutes by tuk-tuk, and surf beaches such as Kabalana are about 15 minutes away — followed by a three-hour evening practice blending Yoga Synergy with physiotherapy-based strength and flexibility work.

Designed for guests who value both comfort and connection, this spacious shared room offers a welcoming setting for a memorable stay. It comfortably accommodates 3–4 people and is arranged with single beds on two levels, creating a practical and relaxed atmosphere for friends, fellow travelers, or retreat participants sharing the experience together.
Each room includes an open-air ensuite bathroom, allowing you to enjoy a refreshing sense of space while staying close to nature. A large balcony opens out to beautiful views of Koggala Lake, providing a peaceful spot to unwind, take in the surroundings, or enjoy quiet moments between activities.
To support restful sleep in the tropical climate, the room is equipped with air conditioning. Thoughtfully designed for both ease and community, this shared accommodation combines natural beauty with the essentials for a comfortable and restorative stay.

Set in a peaceful lakeside setting, this room offers a relaxed and comfortable stay for two guests. The two single beds provide plenty of personal space, making it an ideal choice for friends or travel companions sharing a room. Every room enjoys calming lake views, helping create a quiet, restorative atmosphere throughout the day. Beds are fitted with individual mosquito nets for added comfort, while whisper-quiet air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the space cool and restful both day and night.
