This trek is a true mountain adventure. It is more demanding than many other routes, and the fascinating history of the area adds an extra layer of intrigue to the journey.
One of the most unusual features of Roopkund is the lake itself, which is surrounded by human skeletons from different regions and time periods for reasons that remain unknown. This remarkable discovery earned it a second name: “Mysterious Lake.”
Expect sweeping landscapes, rich flora and fauna, and unforgettable Himalayan scenery throughout the route. Located in Chamoli District, Uttarakhand, at an impressive altitude of 16,470 feet (5,020 m) above sea level, the trek offers striking views of the Himalayan peaks Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.
The scenery changes with the seasons, making it beautiful for most of the year.

What our clients say about it
Roopkund trek is an experience of a lifetime, and doing it with such an experienced trekker like Himanshu made it more enjoyable and informative.
I did the treks twice with Himanshu, and its beauty varies with every different season. The first time, we went in the rainy season. The forest was dense, and the meadows were covered with vast grassland with different colored flowers all over. The second time we went to Bedni Bugyal (meadow on the way to Roopkund) in the winter just after a snowfall. The forest was full of snow, and the meadow turned from a vast green land into a snowy desert.
Apart from the beautiful landscape, we could see different flora and fauna, which we can experience only on these Himalayan treks. We saw Himalayan deer, Uttarakhand's state tree 'Buransh', Uttarakhand's state bird 'Monal,' and Uttarakhand's state flower 'Bramhkamal' which grows only between 10000 ft to 15750 ft above sea level. At the summit, we saw mesmerizing Roopkund Lake surrounded by ancient human skeletons believed to be from the 9th century.
