Popadija, Talijanka, Volušnica
Enjoy a memorable hiking experience with sweeping views over the Prokletije massif, the largest mountain range in the Balkans. Part of the Dinaric Alps, this dramatic region is the southernmost, highest, and most striking section of the range. Administratively, Prokletije stretches across Albania, Serbia–Kosovo, and Montenegro, reaching from Skadar Lake and the Zeta Valley in the southwest to the Drim River in the east, Metohija and Mokra Gora in the northeast, and the Komovi in the west. Its towering peaks and rugged profile have earned it the nickname “Balkan Alps.” The name Prokletije, or Bjeshket e Nemuna in Albanian, means “cursed mountains,” reflecting the area’s historic inaccessibility. Hiking routes here appeared only about 20 years ago, as access to this border region was previously restricted and considered dangerous.
