"Pleasure is the point. Feeling good is not frivolous, it is freedom."
― Adrienne Maree Brown, Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good
To experience pleasure in the body, we often need two essential things: a sense that we have choice, and the freedom to acknowledge desire. These may sound simple, yet pleasure, touch, sex, longing, and desire can carry shame, uncertainty, and other layered emotions. Rather than avoiding that complexity, this workshop invites participants to meet it with curiosity, opening space to learn, explore, and play.
We will explore how to recognize and communicate an authentic yes, no, and maybe, while also making room for personal longing, moving toward what we want, and respecting another person’s no. Drawing on elements of Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent, the workshop offers opportunities to notice, trust, value, and express consent, boundaries, and desire.
There will be invitations for non-sexual touch, though touching and being touched are never required. Learning will take place through several approaches, including discussion, verbal sharing, and dance to help integrate the experience.
We will move luxuriously slowly and allow plenty of time for each part of the process.
All adults are welcome, regardless of gender identity, gender expression, biological sex, sexual orientation, relationship status, or dance experience. The intention is to co-create a sex-positive, inclusive, curious, and expansive environment that honors whatever each person brings into the room.
Questions are welcome by email.
