Day 1 – Arrival in Thanedar | Apple Orchards & Colonial Legacy
Arrive in Thanedar at approx. 7,700 ft (2,347 m). After check-in, spend the afternoon walking through apple orchards and exploring the calm village surroundings. Visit the historic Stokes Orchard and a nearby colonial-era church to experience Thanedar’s quiet character. The evening is free to relax among cedar forests and fresh mountain air. Dinner and overnight stay in Thanedar.
Day 2 – Thanedar Sightseeing & Forest Hikes | Temples, Trails & Lakes
Start the day with a short drive followed by a hike near Hatu Mata Temple (10 km | ~30 mins drive + hike), where sweeping Himalayan views await. Continue with a gentle forest walk along stretches of the old silk route, then visit Tani Jubbar Lake and Nag Devta Temple, both set in serene natural surroundings. Return to Thanedar by evening for a relaxed overnight stay.
Day 3 – Thanedar to Sangla via Sarahan | Himalayan Temple Route
Depart Thanedar for Sangla (170 km | 6–7 hrs). Along the way, stop at Bhimakali Temple, an impressive example of traditional Himalayan architecture. Continue through river valleys and mountain roads before arriving in Sangla at approx. 8,900 ft (2,720 m). The evening is at leisure. Overnight stay in Sangla.
Day 4 – Sangla Leisure & Baspa River Walk | Valley Calm
Enjoy a restful day in Sangla, taking time to explore the village and its surroundings. Follow easy walks along the Baspa River, admire the wooden village houses, and take in views of snow-dusted peaks. The pace remains intentionally slow, leaving space for photography, reading, or simply absorbing the valley’s stillness. Dinner and overnight stay in Sangla.
Day 5 – Chitkul Excursion | India’s Last Village Experience
Drive from Sangla to Chitkul (23 km | ~1 hr), the last inhabited village near the Indo–Tibetan border at approx. 11,320 ft (3,450 m). Explore the village, walk along the Baspa River, and experience its distinctive high-altitude culture. Return to Sangla by evening for a relaxed overnight stay.
Day 6 – Rakcham Signature Hike | Alpine Trails & Packed Lunch
Set out on the Rakcham Signature Hike (12 km | moderate), crossing alpine meadows and forest trails with wide mountain views. A packed lunch is enjoyed en route in pristine surroundings. This is one of the journey’s highlights, offering a meaningful connection with the Himalayan landscape. Return to Sangla by evening for an overnight stay.
Day 7 – Sangla to Thanedar | Return to the Orchards
Drive back to Thanedar (170 km | 6–7 hrs). The scenic return follows river valleys and forested hills once again. Arrive by evening and unwind with a quiet walk or a restful pause, bringing the mountain journey to a gentle close. Dinner and overnight stay in Thanedar.
