Mindful Yin, Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra Meditation Workshop
This workshop brings together the slow, meditative qualities of Yin Yoga with the nurturing support of Restorative Yoga, followed by a long Yoga Nidra meditation to close the practice. Designed to encourage deep release, it offers a quiet space to soften tension, settle the mind, and reconnect with a greater sense of calm.
Yin Yoga is practiced at a slower pace, with postures held for 3 to 5 minutes. This longer hold time helps improve mobility by gently working into the body’s connective tissues, including the fascia, myofascia, tendons, and ligaments. It also supports the joints in the hips, pelvis, spine, shoulders, toes, wrists, and ankles through a balance of tension and compression, while the muscular tissue is allowed to relax.
In addition to its physical benefits, Yin is said to support the flow of energy through the meridian channels, encouraging harmony, peace, and a deeper feeling of well-being. It can help restore balance when things feel out of sync, offering a sense of release and the opportunity to let go.
Restorative poses differ from Yin poses in that they are designed to provide nourishment, healing, and support. Props such as bolsters, blocks, blankets, and belts are used to create complete relaxation and comfort. Throughout the practice, variations and options are welcomed so that each participant can choose what suits their own body best.
This is a highly individual practice, and there is no single way for it to look or feel. The focus is not on alignment or appearance, but on what genuinely supports you. Yin yoga can be challenging because of the longer holds, yet it is also deeply supportive, mindful, and balancing. It is often considered a complement to more dynamic, Yang styles of yoga, while also standing as a unique practice in its own right.
The session may also support healing by helping to balance excesses and deficiencies and by encouraging the release of tension and trauma held in the body and mind. As space is created for what no longer serves you, there is room for renewal and new beginnings.
To complete the experience, a long Yoga Nidra meditation offers one of the deepest forms of relaxation. This effortless practice brings quietness, clarity, and profound rest, making it a fitting close to the Yin and Restorative sequence.
Suitable for all levels, including beginners.
