Description

Clinical Integration is designed for practitioners who want to deepen and refine their understanding of Chinese medicine. This two-year program offers a rich exploration of classical and contemporary perspectives, helping participants reconnect with the reasons they were originally drawn to this healing tradition while expanding their clinical confidence.

The course takes place at Eastover Estate and Retreat, 430 East St, Lenox, MA 01240. Room reservations should be arranged in advance, and availability is offered on a first come, first served basis. Rates vary depending on the dates of stay. Rooms are available the night before class begins, with check-in at 4:00pm and check-out at 1:00pm. Guests may also remain on site later in the day to attend class through the end of the schedule. Class begins each morning at 8:30am.

Overnight stays include breakfast and lunch, while commuter guests receive lunch only.

This course is intended to:

  • Reawaken a practitioner’s original connection to Chinese medicine
  • Highlight Chinese medicine as a powerful form of preventive medicine
  • Teach deep pre-TCM physiology through pulse, tongue, and eye diagnosis
  • Clarify constitutional diagnosis as a way of understanding how patients consciously and unconsciously shape themselves through meaning
  • Present Chinese medicine as an integral science of human development
  • Explore the subtle nature of point action and herbal function
  • Build confidence in the long-term management of complex cases

Lonny Jarrett is recognized internationally as a leading practitioner, author, scholar, and teacher of East Asian medicine. He has practiced acupuncture and herbology in Stockbridge, Massachusetts since 1986. His academic background includes Master’s Degrees in Neurobiology from the University of Michigan and Acupuncture from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute. He also studied Contemporary Pulse Diagnosis with Dr. Leon Hammer for 10 years.

For more than 35 years, he has taught students about the inner traditions of Chinese medicine and continues to share his knowledge widely through lectures and teaching on Chinese pulse diagnosis, Five Element constitutional diagnosis, the spirit of the points and subtle nature of herbal medicine, treating trauma, and integral perspectives on Chinese medicine.

In 1997, he launched his two-year Clinical Integration course, bringing classical Chinese medicine into conversation with integral perspectives. More than 600 students have participated to date, with many returning to study again.

His first book, Nourishing Destiny: The Inner Tradition of Chinese Medicine, was published in 1998 and has become a classic in the field. In 2003, he released The Clinical Practice of Chinese Medicine, which translates the core values of Nourishing Destiny into practical treatment-room application. His third book, Deepening Perspectives on Chinese Medicine, was in production and expected in April 2021.

Meals are prepared according to group preferences and budget, with balanced vegetarian and non-vegetarian options that typically include raw salads and hot vegetable dishes. Upon request, unseasoned blanched or steamed dishes can be prepared for lunch and dinner. Gluten- and dairy-free needs are easily accommodated, and seasonings and oils are often served on the side. Some rooms include refrigerators, and guests are welcome to bring food that better suits their needs if necessary. Meal prices cannot be reduced due to food allergies.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at registration. The remaining balance is collected 7 days before arrival. Aside from the deposit, no additional fees apply if cancellation occurs within 7 days after the reservation date. If cancelled less than 4 days before the event, 50% of the total cost is retained.

Z'ev Rosenberg described Lonny’s work as a rare and seamless integration of Sri Aurobindo, Ken Wilbur, Zhuang Zi, and classical physicians such as Sun Si-Miao, noting its significance for the future of Chinese medicine.
