Full Moon Sacred Cacao Ceremony & Shamanic Drum Journey

The Spirit of Cacao was among the most revered deities in the ancient Mayan tradition, and the cacao ceremony was considered one of its most sacred rites. This is a nurturing space for meditation, reflection, and connection with the deeper layers of yourself. It offers a rare chance to meet the stories of the heart and gently explore where restriction, limitation, or pain may be present.

When cacao is combined with rhythmic shamanic drumming, the journey may open into upper, middle, or lower realms, where you can meet spirit guides or power animals. You are invited to soften, rest deeply, and receive inspiration, insights, and creative ideas. Many people find that cacao ceremonies support a sense of joy, peace, and clarity, while also helping them reflect on the next steps in life and overall wellness. In the safety of the ceremony, limiting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can often be seen more clearly and released with greater ease.

We offer Full Moon, New Moon, and Woman Circle cacao ceremonies. Depending on the gathering, we will either move into an active ecstatic dance with drumming or lie down in relaxation and journey into the space of consciousness.

Prepare for the Cacao Ceremony

Please avoid eating too much beforehand and try to fast for at least 2 or 3 hours before the ceremony.

If you do eat, please avoid dairy and oily foods.

Limit caffeine intake on the day of the ceremony.

Drink plenty of water before and after the session.

Theobromine in cacao has a contraindication with anti-depressants, so please let us know in advance if you are taking any, as your serving may need to be adjusted.

Cacao is safe to drink during pregnancy, though the serving should be reduced.

If you have a drum, rattle, pen, journal, or ceremonial wardrobe you would like to bring, you are warmly invited to do so.

Effects of Cacao

Cacao was called “the water that runs through the heart.” For the native peoples of Central and South America, chocolate has long been regarded as a sacred, medicinal, and psychoactive plant. Ceremonial-grade cacao may increase blood flow and nourishment to the brain, heart, and skin. The whole body is supported, awareness becomes more focused and heightened, and the senses are intensified.
