We warmly welcome you to the Dunkelretreat of the Open Sky House community. This is an invitation for those who are ready to step away from outer busyness and devote themselves to silence. We look forward to guiding you on an extraordinary journey that offers the chance to meet yourself in a new and unfiltered way. The doors are open to anyone who feels the inner call to enter darkness and awaken the light within.

During this journey, you may encounter initial challenges. Yet as the veil of external sensory input gradually fades, the mind becomes clearer and you begin moving closer to your true self. It is a space where the ordinary falls away, making room for what is essential.

The Tradition of Darkness

For thousands of years, darkness has held an important place in many cultures, offering a deeper connection to one’s inner being. Freed from everyday distractions, and held in an intimate space with yourself, you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain profound insights, and experience the most nourishing silence.

Experiences

In solitude, it becomes possible to open to whatever wants to arise from within. Without outer distractions or visual stimuli, the retreat draws you inward and gives you the opportunity to reconnect with your essence. Meditation and self-inquiry unfold naturally in this quiet space.

The Retreat Basement

Our retreat basement radiates a deep sense of calm and strongly evokes the monastic spaces where monks or nuns would withdraw for contemplation and meditation. Here, you will find a supportive and protected environment in which to explore your inner world and meet yourself in depth.

The basement is comfortably equipped with a bed, chair, Back Jack, meditation cushion, yoga mat, table, and toilet. Everything is designed to support maximum stillness and focus.

Integrating the Experience

You are welcome to stay additional days at Open Sky House after your darkness retreat in order to fully integrate your experience and bring the insights into your everyday life.

In a Modern Ashram

What makes our retreat basement especially unique is its setting within the energy field of a modern ashram. This creates a natural space for depth and transformation. In this way, this intimate retreat offers a powerful opportunity for anyone wishing to explore their inner world, find inner peace, and deepen their connection to life.

You can step back from the world for a weekend, 4 days, or 7 days. The choice is yours, depending on your needs and availability.

4 nights: 750 €
7 nights: 980 €
Other durations available on request.

The price includes accommodation and full vegetarian meals. A meeting with John David after the retreat is also included.

Fasting

An additional fasting program is also available to deepen the experience even further. We can also offer delicious and healthy smoothies and juices as an alternative meal option for your retreat, if you prefer.
