Join us at the Abode on the 4th Sunday of each month, from 2 to 4 pm, for Tara Circles.
“Dancing the Goddess, circles of dancers throughout the world gather to celebrate, reaching within themselves to balance the feminine side of their nature so long denied in our world… The ‘Goddess' we dance is Tara, known as ‘Mother of the Buddhas’ and for her qualities of Wisdom, Compassion, and Power. One of the ancient myths of Tara says that she arose from a tear of the Lord of Compassion, who wept when he saw the suffering of those on earth. Tara vowed to return lifetime after lifetime to be a source of comfort to those in need and always in the body of a woman.”
This Tara practice is open to everyone. Rooted in ancient Tibetan Buddhist tradition, it offers medicine for our times. As Lama Thubten Yeshe explains, tantric meditational deities are not gods or goddesses in the usual religious sense. Rather, Tara reflects the awakened qualities already present within us. In psychological terms, she can be understood as an archetype of our deepest nature and most profound consciousness. Through focused attention and identification with this image, tantra seeks to awaken the deepest dimensions of our being and bring them into present reality.
We begin at 2 pm and gather through dance, moving meditation, conversation, sharing, and snacks. Our intention is to create a joyful space where everyone can come together.
Please pay what you can. A suggested donation of $20 helps support the work of the Abode.
