Calypso's Cruise to Tortuga Island

After a 1½ hour drive from San José to the dock in Puntarenas, and a stop for a delicious breakfast, you will board the 71-foot Catamaran Manta Raya for an unforgettable journey.

Tortuga is a tropical paradise of white sand beaches, coconut palms, and crystal-clear blue water, set in the Gulf of Nicoya on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Coast. While cruising through the calm waters en route, there is always a chance of spotting dolphins, sea turtles, and aquatic birds.

Once on the island, you may relax on the beach, swim in the ocean, explore adventurous trails, or join an optional tour before lunch is served with chilled white wine and live music.

The Manta Raya offers a spacious deck for socializing, as well as fresh water showers and a bow ramp for easy disembarkation directly onto the beach.

In the afternoon, after Calypso’s guaranteed 5 hours at Tortuga Island, your captain will take you past several protected islands in the Gulf of Nicoya on the return to Puntarenas: Cedros Island, Jesusita Island, the bird sanctuary of Guayabo Island, Sugarloaf Island, Gypsy Island, and the former maximum-security prison on San Lucas Island. Then you will drive back to San José.
