The Beach Feast is a signature 3-course culinary kayak experience and one of the most distinctive ways to enjoy PEI.

Over approximately 5 hours, you’ll learn how PEI shellfish are prepared, hear stories about Island life, and enjoy a seafood-focused 3-course lighthouse keepers lunch that celebrates local ingredients from Canada’s Food Island.
This experience combines education, flavour, and scenery in a truly memorable setting. Your seafood guide for the day will prepare the meal over an open fire on a secluded beach, offering a taste of some of the Island’s best-loved delicacies.

The experience begins with Oysters Three Ways, starting with freshly shucked oysters on the beach. Guests then sample oysters grilled over open coals before finishing with a Grilled Oyster Casino.
The second course features fresh Island scallops served two ways, alongside homemade Nature Space bread, fresh salads, and a sparkling beverage.
For the final course, guests enjoy a sweet homemade dessert to round out the meal.
Throughout the experience, guests are encouraged to take part in learning about the shellfish industry and how these delicacies are prepared. Those who prefer a slower pace are welcome to relax, listen to stories about Island shellfish traditions, and enjoy the atmosphere while the meal is being prepared.
After dining, there is time to unwind and digest. The setting also offers the chance for a quiet beach walk, sunbathing, or even a swim in the warm waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This is an experiential and interactive outing from start to finish.
Guests should arrive ready for a fun and enjoyable day on the water. The paddle takes place on St. Peter’s Lake, an ocean lagoon with protected, calm conditions that are well suited to first-time paddlers as well as experienced kayakers.
The group meets at Nature Space Resort & Retreat Centre, with check-in at the reception yurt near the parking lot. Washroom facilities are available here, and your guide will provide all necessary safety gear and paddle equipment.
Once everyone is ready, your guide will lead a safety briefing and share helpful tips to make the time on the water comfortable and enjoyable.
You can expect to kayak for around 1.5 hours, taking in the quiet waters, abundant birdlife, and occasional views of trout and fish below the surface. Along the way, you’ll also learn about the ecology and history of the area, once the capital region of PEI and now known as the Island’s Natural Capital.
After the paddle, you’ll land on a secluded beach and receive a warm welcome from Jarrod Gunn McQuillan, your seafood guide for the day. Jarrod is a former provincial shellfish specialist and oyster biologist, and he has judged the Canadian Oyster Shucking Championships as well as organized the shucking competitions at the PEI International Shellfish Festival.
Here, you’ll have the chance to sample local Prince Edward Island shellfish, learn how to shuck oysters, and discover more about preparing fresh PEI seafood.
Note: Washrooms are available at the Resort before the adventure begins. There are no washrooms during the tour, although a quick stop back at the resort is possible after the first part of the kayak experience before heading to the secluded beach.
