This school is registered with Yoga Alliance at both the 200-hour and 500-hour levels, and is also a YACEP.
Set in the Himalayan foothills on the banks of the sacred Ganges River, Rishikesh offers an inspiring setting for immersive yoga study. Surrounded by temples, ashrams, and remarkable natural beauty, it invites practitioners into a deeper connection with timeless yogic wisdom.
Once a small village, it has grown into a global pilgrimage destination for those seeking inner peace and spiritual growth. Its mystique is further enriched by the Beatles’ famous stay here in the 1960s. In this atmosphere, the training becomes more than education: it becomes a path of reflection, inner expansion, and transformation within a centuries-old tradition associated with the sages of Rishikesh.
The training is grounded in tradition and classical yoga, drawing on foundational texts such as the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Vedanta, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Tantric Yoga, and others. At the same time, the methodology includes modern approaches such as biomechanics, therapeutic alignment, and intelligent sequencing. This blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary understanding is reflected in daily practice, both on and off the mat.
Note: Sacred Ganga Yagya & Aarti is a daily evening light ceremony held at the sacred Ganga river in front of the ashram, featuring mantra chanting, bells, and lamps. The ashram is known for hosting the largest and most famous Sacred Ganga ceremony in Rishikesh. The schedule is indicative and may change depending on location and weather conditions.
Graduates are welcome to repeat the training in the future at no tuition cost, subject to availability; only accommodation fees will apply. The team remains committed to supporting your growth alongside their own.
Rishikesh is about 240 kilometers from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The fastest route is by train to Haridwar, followed by a short taxi or rickshaw ride to Rishikesh. Another option is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport, located 25 kilometers away, with a scenic taxi ride through the Himalayan foothills.
The training takes place at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, the largest and one of the most well-known ashrams in Rishikesh, and home to the annual World Yoga Festival. Located on the banks of the holy Ganga River, it offers an authentic yogic environment shaped by tradition. As one of the oldest and most respected ashrams in the area, it attracts seekers, rishis, and wise teachers from around the world.
Accommodation is in shared double A/C rooms, simple yet comfortable, within a peaceful Himalayan setting. This is not a luxury resort experience, but rather an invitation to embrace the simplicity of traditional yogic life. Parmarth Niketan Ashram is a sacred place for dedicated spiritual seekers.
Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel. Assistance can be provided with directions from either Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport or New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, as well as with connecting participants arriving in New Delhi around the same time.
Buses and trains run regularly from New Delhi to Rishikesh, with rail being the faster option. An express train takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes from New Delhi Railway to Haridwar, followed by a taxi ride of about 35 kilometers to Rishikesh. A domestic flight to Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport is another convenient choice, with Rishikesh about 25 kilometers away. Arrival times will be collected closer to the start date so participants can coordinate shared taxis or travel together by bus or train.
The ashram has an on-site canteen serving simple, nourishing vegetarian meals for a small fee. Meals are not included in the training, allowing participants to choose according to personal preferences and dietary needs. Rishikesh also offers many restaurants and food stalls with vegetarian and vegan options. As this is a holy pilgrimage area, non-vegetarian food and alcohol are not available.
Please bring a yoga mat, a block, a strap, at least two notebooks, and a white outfit for the graduation ceremony. The teacher training manual will be provided on the first day, and reading material will be sent by email after registration so you can prepare in advance.
