Yumei (May) Chen is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and a Clinical Nurse Educator. She began her nursing career 20 years ago and has worked across post-anesthesia care, inpatient rehabilitation, and mental health nursing. May earned her Master of Science in Nursing in Psychiatric Mental Health from Rivier University in New Hampshire, followed by a Doctor of Nursing Practice from The University of Alabama. For the past six years, she has supported communities as a mental health provider serving clients across the lifespan.
Her community-based experience has shaped a deep commitment to accessible, nondiscriminatory, high-quality mental health care with an alternative perspective. Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, she aims to foster resilience, self-discovery, and a stronger sense of well-being. She lives by the belief: “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, continued learning, and spending time with friends.
Her professional services include psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis, psychopharmacology medication management, and mental health education. She works with adults age 18+.
