About Vicky Karkou

Vicky Karkou is a dance movement psychotherapist, educator, and researcher with extensive experience supporting vulnerable communities in hospitals, schools, and voluntary organisations. She holds the Chair of Dance, Arts and Wellbeing at Edge Hill University in England and has received an Honorary Doctor of Medicine from Riga Stradins University in Latvia. At present, she leads the Arts for Wellbeing Research Group, which sits between the Department of Performing Arts and the Faculty of Health and Social Care. Vicky also travels widely for teaching and research, and her work has been published extensively. Alongside her academic role, she maintains a small private practice offering psychotherapy and supervision.
