

E-RYT 500, Ulrika Engman is a certified yoga teacher and Halprin Life Art practitioner, as well as a graduate of the Tamalpa Institute. She founded Yoga Journeys, an international travel company, in 1999 and has led it ever since. Born in Sweden, she moved to Los Angeles, California in 1991 to study psychology and dance. That same year, Ulrika discovered yoga at Yoga Works in Santa Monica and has remained a devoted practitioner ever since.
Each year, Ulrika leads six to eight yoga retreats around the world in remarkable, sacred destinations such as Bali, Mexico, Peru, Iceland, Greece, Italy, Sweden, Egypt, and Morocco. She also hosts popular Spa Yoga Days in Napa Valley at Solage resort in Calistoga, teaches annual yoga workshops at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, and offers Sacred Sundays yoga practice online.
Her fluid teaching style draws on psycho-somatic movement, anatomy, expressive arts, and dance. A lover of movement, breath, body, and spirit, Ulrika weaves the transformative power of yoga together with nature metaphors, inspiring stories, and insights from yoga philosophy and wisdom traditions. Her classes are known for being creative, strengthening, and uplifting, with postures linked in innovative sequences that flow with breath and music along the energy lines of body and mind.
