Owner and co-facilitator Tyler C. Olson Meier was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where the Rocky Mountains shaped an early love of the outdoors and a lifelong appetite for adventure. Skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, rock climbing, and spelunking were all part of his path, along with extensive travel that began remarkably young. By the age of 14, he had already visited Australia, New Zealand, and Guatemala, and his journeys have since taken him through much of Central America and Nepal. With a spirit that has never fit neatly into a conventional 9-to-5 life, he completed university studies and two years of adventure guide training.
In 2014, Tyler’s life changed suddenly when he was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis). After weeks in hospital and a treatment plan involving pharmaceuticals and daily steroid injections, he chose to pursue a different path and listen to the call of Mother Ayahuasca. He felt strongly that the approach of modern medicine would do more harm than good, and his search led him to Peru in pursuit of organic therapy, a clean diet, and a full reset of the body. There, his care focused on cleansing, superfood-rich nutrition, movement therapy, massage, and self-reflection, all in preparation for ceremony and overall well-being.
Through this integrated and holistic process, Tyler experienced profound changes: after two ceremonies he began to feel his feet and legs again, after six ceremonies sensation returned to the lower half of his back, and within days of his seventh and final ceremony, full feeling had come back, along with a much lower level of fatigue. He now hopes to share what he has learned through working with Amazonian plants, nourishing food, and ongoing support for the changes and challenges of living with Multiple Sclerosis.
After returning to Calgary, he had the opportunity to go back to Peru, continue his own treatment, and join the team in supporting others on their path. Tyler has also benefited greatly from his work with Kambo and feels honored to assist others in their healing journey. With his background in outdoor safety and emergency training, Los Cielos is pleased to offer guests a safe journey in an extraordinary wild setting.
