
Susan is initiated as a Firekeeper and has facilitated monthly Sacred Fires since 2003. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Sacred Fire, an international community service organization devoted to reconnecting people with one another and with spirit through the gift of Fire and Firekeeping. Since 2021, she has also served on the Kawiterutsixi (Kawitero) Council of elders for the medicine group Grupo Tatewari. In addition, she is initiated as a Granicera or Quiatizque (Weather Shaman) in the Nahua tradition indigenous to Central Mexico.
Alongside her work as a traditional shamanic healer, Susan is a ceremonial leader who lives and practices with her husband, family, and community at The Farm in Summertown, while also working in Nashville, Tennessee. She began her healing practice as a Plant Spirit Medicine practitioner and continues as an initiated Mara'akame in the tradition of the Wixárika (Huichol) people of Mexico. For more than twenty years, she has maintained her practice in middle Tennessee, supporting healthy transformation and helping people align with the natural cycles of life while meeting life’s inevitable challenges with balance and courage.
