Learn how to turn your passion into teaching with Linda Lalita Winnick, Selena Reynolds, and staff. This is the most comprehensive and consistently offered teacher training program in the area, created to give you the knowledge and confidence needed to provide yoga instruction in both group classes and one-on-one settings. The program is designed especially for the largest student population: beginners and those new to the practice. Many participants join not because they plan to teach, but because they want to deepen their understanding of yoga and ayurveda. We have been educating teachers since 2004, and experience matters just as much as longevity. The training runs for 9–10 months so you can graduate feeling prepared and self-assured. Alumni have gone on to become successful teachers, launch their own teacher trainings, open studios, teach and travel abroad, and build full-time careers.
You will study anatomy and physiology, Eastern energetics, breathwork, meditation, and how to teach the primary yoga postures. An introduction to ayurveda, the traditional medical system of India, supports the creation of harmonious asana sequences and lays the foundation for continued study in the Yoga Advanced Teacher Training certification program. Through the study of yoga philosophy and other traditions, you will gain the ability to offer clear spiritual guidance that aligns with your own beliefs. You will also develop business and marketing skills that support your success as a yoga teacher. Pre-arranged internships in established institutions, together with teaching and assisting in Shakti Yoga classes, provide valuable experience while you serve the community.
