At heart, Patrick is both a healer and a teacher. His deep knowledge of Western and traditional practices, combined with a generous spirit, makes him a valued resource. As Board Chair of the Blue Deer Center, he brings leadership, the compassion of a doctor, and the empathy of a community Firekeeper. An initiated Mara'akame in the Wixárika tradition and a Firekeeper, he guides ceremonies and offers healing sessions that support greater balance in people’s lives.
For more than 25 years, Patrick has practiced as a functional medicine family physician in Asheville, NC, alongside his wife, Dr. Lisa Lichtig. He is committed to transforming medical practice through awareness, practice, and embodiment. Patrick founded the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine and received the Linus Pauling Award for his pioneering contributions to the field. He earned his medical doctorate from Washington University. He finds joy in nature, with his community around the fire, and in life with Lisa.
