Onshin Landry began practicing Zen in 2012 during the Summer Program at Great Vow, and the path soon became a central part of his life. In 2014, he entered the monastery as a full-time trainee, deepening his commitment to formal practice and monastic training. He received Tokudo, Zen priest ordination, in 2019, and later became a Dharma Holder in 2023.
Alongside his practice, Onshin served as the in-house bookkeeper for the Zen Community of Oregon for more than six years. Through both service and training, he has come to appreciate the simplicity and loving nature of Zen Buddhist practice. He has also completed two Ango training periods in Japan: one at Toshoji Monastery in Okayama in 2024 and another at Kotaiji Monastery in Nagasaki in 2025.
