
As a partner of NY Loves Yoga, MJ Watkins brings a deeply attentive and compassionate approach to teaching, shaped by what students most often seek from yoga: stress relief, relaxation, inner peace, and greater wellness. Her interest in Thomas Hanna Somatics grew after experiencing a back injury and a loss of physical movement, an experience that continues to inform her focus today.
MJ’s work centers on breath, the nervous system, and the gradual return of strength through mindful movement. Her classes are designed to support flexibility, physical health, and mental relaxation, while encouraging a more grounded connection to the body. With a calm and supportive style, she creates space for students to move with awareness and rediscover ease.
Her training includes RYT 300 from the Academy of Yoga & Meditation in India, E-RYT 200 from Zuna Yoga in Tantra–Hatha, Reiki Level 1, Atma Buti Singing Bowls, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra from ISHTA in NYC, and Essential Somatics Movement with Martha Peterson at Radiant Child.
