“Mie’s practice reveals a profound intensity. Thoughtfully sequenced and carefully composed, it unfolds beautifully into a journey through every layer of life, leading toward the heart and truth.”
Yoga has long been an inseparable part of my life, both on and off the mat. During my youth in Japan, followed by time spent in Tanzania, Uganda, the United States, England, and Germany, I studied with a wide range of teachers and explored many styles. Mentors such as Jason Crandell, Claire Missingham, Yogeswari, Jai Uttal, Jo Tastula, and Thich Nhat Hanh have deepened my practice and shaped my teaching approach in lasting ways. I am a registered Yoga Alliance teacher at the 500-hour level. My path led me to my first teacher training in Washington, DC in 2011, followed by an advanced 300-hour certification course with Jason Crandell. As an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), I draw on more than 2,000 hours of teaching experience.
My classes are defined by mindful sequencing and flowing, carefully crafted transitions. For me, the yoga space is a sacred place where the protective outer shell can be set aside, allowing for a deeply authentic connection with oneself in the present moment. My intention is to share the joy of practice and create a safe environment where each person can discover their full potential. I believe yoga should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, physical condition, or social background. My sequences are designed so that practitioners of all levels can stay within their own limits while still experiencing a gentle challenge.
As a healthy lifestyle coach, I combine traditional Japanese values with knowledge gained from many different cultures. I am a proud mother of two active sons, a passionate cook, world traveler, environmental activist, and animal advocate. With a Master of Science in Development Management from American University in Washington, DC, I also worked for many years with Dr. Jane Goodall. I currently live in Bonn, Germany, and teach in a variety of studios. As a lead instructor at Vinyasa People, an international studio, I warmly invite you to join and be inspired by my offerings, including one of our retreats, to rediscover your inner balance.
