With more than five decades dedicated to philosophy and, in particular, the nature of mind, Michael Friedman offers teaching shaped by depth, clarity, and sustained commitment. In 1989, he completed a traditional three-year retreat in Dordogne, France, under the guidance of H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Taklung Tsetrul Tulku Pema Wangyal. That formative period continues to influence the way he shares his knowledge, bringing a grounded and thoughtful perspective rooted in direct experience.
He currently teaches weekly at Samye Hermitage New York, where students can expect a calm, reflective setting and guidance informed by decades of study and retreat practice. His teachings are well suited to those drawn to contemplative inquiry, a deeper understanding of mind, and the wisdom traditions that support inner development and healing.
