Matthew Lyons graduated from Western Michigan University and George Washington University School of Law. He spent 26 years working in political and government relations in Washington, DC, before feeling called in 2018 to devote his heart, energy, and attention fully to yoga and mindfulness practices.
He believes yoga, meditation, and mindfulness found him around 10 years ago. After years of steady practice and exploration, Matthew felt inspired to teach and completed a 200-hour training in May 2017. A lifelong seeker, he has since gone on to complete additional trainings in Yin Yoga, yoga nidra, restorative yoga, sound healing, Sanskrit, and theory.
Matthew first came to Kripalu in 2017 and continues to return for yoga and meditation trainings, conferences, retreats, and the sanctuary he finds in the Berkshires. He is excited to support Kripalu’s mission and help make its offerings available and accessible to more people.
He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife Carla. His adult son, Noah, also lives in the Washington, DC area.
