Massiel Obando Garcia is originally from Matagalpa, a small town in northern Nicaragua, and has lived in Costa Rica since 2009, in Playa Blanca, one of the beautiful beaches right next to Soltara. Cooking is her passion, and that love shines through in every meal she creates at Soltara.
She enjoys working with local ingredients, including exotic fruits, organic vegetables, and fresh fish and chicken, to prepare vibrant, nourishing dishes that feed both body and soul. With care and intention, she has helped shape the kitchen into a welcoming space for gathering, community, and delicious ayahuasca-friendly food that supports the medicine work. She also trains new staff and supports smooth kitchen operations alongside Chef Jesse.
Part of the Soltara family since the beginning, Masi has deepened her own connection to plant medicines through her work there. She considers Soltara her second family and loves Pinta, the beloved dog, as well as the entire team. One of her greatest joys is seeing guests and staff enjoy the meals she and her team prepare, helping to support the healing experience.
