Mary Egan is a product, brand, and business strategist, entrepreneur, advisor, and Board Director. At Kripalu, she brings nearly 30 years of experience helping consumer businesses unlock profitable growth. She also serves on the boards of private and publicly traded companies, while advising high-growth businesses backed by venture capital and private equity.
Earlier in her career, Mary spent 14 years at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she was a Partner and Managing Director working with consumer companies to design and implement innovative growth strategies. She cofounded the BCG Center for Consumer Insight, and her consumer-centered approach to strategy has remained a defining strength. She later led strategy for Starbucks, helping drive the transformation of both the brand and the business. Mary then founded the foodtech startup Gatheredtable, built on the belief that food is medicine, and served as CEO from launch through its sale to a strategic buyer.
Mary began her career working in and around urban public education for nearly a decade. Her experience includes teaching math and science at a public middle school in Harlem for several years, working as an analyst at a nonprofit think tank, and serving as a special assistant to the Deputy Chancellor of the NYC Public Schools. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MSEd from Bank Street Graduate School of Education, and a BA from Barnard College at Columbia University.
Mary first visited Kripalu more than 30 years ago and considers yoga an essential part of her life’s path. She deeply believes in Kripalu’s mission and is honored to serve on the organization’s Board. Mary lives with her family on an island near Seattle, WA, where she values the chance to immerse herself in the natural world of the Pacific Northwest.
