It would be impossible to close the season without introducing one of the most important people at Cal Reiet: Margalida Melià. She joined the team in April 2021, stepping into the role of resident manager with great excitement and anticipation.
Margalida is a trained economist, with a specialization in the European Business Program from the Europäische Fachhochschule and the Balearic Islands University. She also holds a master’s degree in accounting and auditing, which gives her a strong analytical perspective and a clear focus on business stability and sound financial management.
Before arriving at Cal Reiet, she spent two years moving between the UK, Germany, and Mallorca, combining different jobs to build versatility and experience. She later settled in Palma de Mallorca for the opening of Hotel Sant Francesc, where she successfully supported the first three years of its activity. After that, she took on the financial management of Fera Restaurant in pursuit of a Michelin star.
“Starting to work at Cal Reiet was really a dream and honour for me, because in addition to a beautiful place full of magic, I was offered the opportunity to work in the hotel world again, which I’m very passionate about! And what is even more important – it’s wonderful to be able to work in a place with a holistic purpose.”
At Cal Reiet, Margalida’s optimistic outlook is felt by everyone around her. She does her best to foster a positive atmosphere among colleagues, always guided by honesty, sincerity, and respect. These values also shape the way she welcomes and supports hotel guests, as she believes service should always come first.
Deeply connected to the island, Margalida is originally from Porreres and comes from a long line of Majorcan ancestors. She has a strong appreciation for the culture, history, and traditions of her homeland. Raised in a family of peasants and blacksmiths, she learned early on the value of hard work and determination in reaching her goals.
On a personal level, she is an avid traveler who crosses oceans at least once a year and takes every chance to explore whenever time allows. She sees every corner of the world as a book waiting to be opened, and she dives into each culture with full intensity. Swimming with whale sharks in Mexico and taking challenging journeys through Thailand in search of hidden temples are just two examples of her adventurous spirit.
Today, she is eager to continue giving her very best in this new professional chapter, and there is no doubt she will do exactly that.
