Maestro Moises Vasquez Nunta comes from the Shipibo nation in the Ucayali River region of the Peruvian Amazon. Born in 1981, he belongs to a new generation of young Shipibo maestros devoted to the demanding path of Master Plant Dietas and the sacrifices required to become an Onaya, a Shipibo healer and man of wisdom. Raised in the secluded village of Nuevo Nazareth, Moises grew up 9–10 hours by speedboat from Pucallpa.
His Shipibo name, Isá Wéni, translates as “vision of expanding birds.” Moises describes healing as being, above all, about light. In his view, nothing dark can remain hidden from the light of the icaros. He has shared that through their own plant dieta experience, maestros learn to carry the medicine’s healing power to those in ceremony. For guests, the role is to arrive with trust, openness, and willingness to receive the medicine and the icaros. His purpose is to guide the medicine into each guest, supporting healing and bringing more light into their lives.
Moises has been walking the path of plant medicine healing, dieta, and training for more than 12 years.
We are truly honored to have Maestro Moises on our team and look forward to many more years of collaboration as he continues carrying forward the traditions of the elder Shipibo maestros.
