Priya is among the few who have been connected with Osho from the moment of birth. When she was born, Osho blessed her with the name Priya and told her parents, “She is my child. I will take care of her.” He remained personally involved in her upbringing and education.
At the age of seven, during a Darshan in Pune in 1976, she spontaneously asked for sannyas. Osho then gave her the name Ma Deva Priya and explained that it meant “Beloved of the Divine.” During her school holidays, she often spent time at the Ashram, and many energy Darshans with Osho at that young age helped root her deeply in meditation.
In 1982, as a teenager, Priya moved to Rajneeshpuram in the USA, where she stayed for four years. She attended the Osho School in Antelope and worked in different departments at the ranch. She describes those years as the happiest of her life: “I learnt so much in those years that no other regular school could ever teach me.”
Osho made a unique exception in her case, allowing her to live in the ashram as a resident while studying outside. After Osho returned to Pune, he guided Priya to complete both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Psychology, while continuing to live and work in the ashram. “Osho wanted me to be comfortable in both the worlds ‘together’, living out his vision of the new man.”
Since 2007, she has been running an Osho meditation center in the Himalayas, where she also oversees management and administration. With the rare experience of being so close to the Master and living with him in his international communes, she embodies a natural balance of East and West. Built on this strong foundation, Osho Nisarga has become an oasis for in-depth programs and a successful expression of Osho’s “wholistic” vision of life.
