Luke is the original landowner at Anahata and one of the key figures behind its community roots. He helped launch the community and has remained a steady presence through its many changes and developments. A longtime supporter of Floyd’s progressive spirit, Luke also played an important role in founding Blue Ridge Mountain School and the Sustain Floyd Farmer’s Market, the main Saturday market in downtown Floyd.
Beyond his community work, Luke has served on the boards of several Floyd organizations and has spent decades leading high-technology environmental companies. Since 1979, he has driven initiatives focused on converting biomass into fuel, fiber, feed, and other high-value products. During the 1980s, he was also an active advocate for renewable fuels and sustainable technologies, bringing a forward-thinking vision to both business and local community life.
